We believe that caring for ourselves and caring for the Earth are not separate acts - they are part of the same ecology of care.

How we came about

South Hands was born from the recognition that healing the planet will in part require healing people. When we have the capacity to rest, recover and reconnect, we are better equipped to care for the natural world and the communities around us.

Founded in 2026 by marine scientist Eve Sanders (BSc Hons, MRes), South Hands emerged from Eve's recognition of the growing burnout affecting those working across environmental science, academia and conservation. Working in these fields during a time of accelerating environmental change can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. Inspired by her own experiences, Eve established the Wellbeing in Science Initiative to promote healthier, more sustainable approaches to research and researcher wellbeing.

Rooted in scientific evidence and a deep appreciation for the relationship between people and nature, South Hands was originally created to support those working in science, research and academia. Today, it welcomes anyone who shares a passion for protecting and restoring the natural world. Through therapeutic practice, South Hands seeks to cultivate active hope, strengthen our emotional connection with local ecosystems, and help people find the resilience and energy to care for the places they love - without burning themselves out

More than a massage...

Active Hope

We are better able to help the environment when we are rested and stable in ourselves.

Do we have the capacity to fix the planet if we aren’t healed ourselves?

Active hope principles

Personification of Nature

The more people feel emotionally connected to a space the more people are interested in protecting that space

Healing power of nature

Using natures gifts such as bioelectric sounds, sensory touch and visual aids to aid relaxation and nature connection - I work alongside nature to guide your nervous system into a safer, calmer and therefore more environmentally productive state

Kincentric Ecology

I support the work and philosophy of Shaumacher college (Devon), by integrating sacred ecology principles into my wellbeing treatments and routines
